Hello everyone! So one of my goals for 2020 was to write a faith related blog post at least once a month, so here I am! This one is all about a song that's been inspiring me literally since I first heard it, and it's called 'God Only Knows' by for KING & COUNTRY.
SO GOOD.
Like wow.
This song (which if you haven't already listened to it - you should!) really expressed something that I think we all struggle with, which is how much other people know about us and how they see us
We all have those accomplishments nobody knows about, but we don't want to sound braggy telling them. We all have experiences we wish those around us could experience too, but know that they can't. But most of all, we all have mistakes we've made or false things that have been said over us and about us that we can't do anything about. It can be so hard sometimes to accept that we can't control others' opinions of us, no matter how we act around them. This song really explains how, despite what others think of us, God's opinion is the only one that truly matters. He also knows EVERTHING about us, even better than we know it ourselves.
A good way to accept this is to get the right perspective on what truly matters. I've heard this saying that, "Will you care about this in 5 years? If not, it's not worth worrying about." My friends and I typically apply this to tests and grades, but it works for a lot of situations! Only God's opinion will continue to matter in 5 years, 10 years, and even 50 years.
So accept that there are certain things that nobody but you can know about you. And that God's opinion is truly the only one that matters, which is so convenient because He knows everything about you!
Pray, "God, let your voice become the loudest one I hear and the one I'm the most sensitive to." :D
